Lámh Training Courses
Courses in Lámh
Different Lámh Courses have been designed for families and staff members.
Courses are organised by service providers.
Courses are delivered by Lámh Tutors - usually speech and language therapists, teachers, nurses, social care staff, etc. who deliver training as part of their role.
Types of Lámh Courses available include:
- The Lámh Family Course
- Module One Course for staff
- Five-day Course for staff (soon to be delivered in modular format)
- Lámh Tutor Training
- Module Three: Training for Family Course Trainers (to be launched)
Lámh Courses are organised by service providers because:
- It means that families and staff will have received training from the same Lámh Tutor team and therefore a cohesive approach to implementing a Lámh programme with a child/adult can be taken;
- Those attending are drawing on actual experiences of working with people with intellectual disabilties;
- They are using the signs and skills learned in practical situations immediately following the course.
A Note on Training for Staff
Lámh values diverse experience among course participants. The sharing of expertise and experience is considered to be very important and builds foundations for collaboration on return to the workplace. Therefore it is considered that staff with different roles should attend Lámh Training together.
