Lámh Courses

  • Courses are delivered by Lámh Tutors working in services around Ireland.
  • There are different types of Lámh Courses available for staff members and families.
  • Lámh Courses are organised by services for the staff members working with Lámh users and for families of those accessing services.  These services include voluntary and statutory organisations, the HSE, schools, etc.
  • Lámh Courses focus on the skills required to support Lámh users as well as the mechanics of making signs.

Over 1700 participants attended Lámh training last year (2008) (See Map).

Lámh's Role

Lámh does not organise training for staff or families.

Lámh trains Lámh Tutors.  The Tutor Training Course is for those who are trained in Lámh, are working in healthcare/education settings and who are in a position to deliver training to staff members and families.

If a service or group does not have access to a Lámh Tutor, they can contract in a Tutor to deliver a course to staff or families, by contacting the Lámh Development Office.   This is not designed as a replacement for the original system of Lámh training run by service providers, but rather is designed as a short-term solution if required.
